Australia Day 2011

Emelia left the house early to do the Australia Day thing
and Josh had indoor plans,
so Stu and i donned our Australia Day Sombreros
(they totally arent Australian type hats though are they!!)
and headed down to the river for the raft race!

It was so muddy and dirty after all the recent rains and floods
but it was a good flow and very safe for the race

I am totally going to do this next year!
I say this every year, but i think its time i did!!
Even if its just once!
I will ask a few other Mums and we can have the old birds raft!!

This was a very well thought out raft.
A couple of dads with the kids.

This one was a trampoline with the drums wired to it!
Obviously got a bit hot on the butt though as all the sailors were in the river!!

Here was a very patriotic raft!

And anther well thought out raft complete with captains seat!
Once again, most sailors had bailed and we in the water!!

This was a well made raft!
And all the boys seamed quiet pleased with their efforts!!

But my altime favourite raft this year was this guy!
In the bath tub!
And where is his life jacket!! Your not allowed to race without it!
He must have pitched it during the race!!

I dont know who won it, but all these rafts were among the last to get back!

It was so hot!
We peaked at 46 in our yard today but sat mostly around that 44 mark!
The river was a good place to be!
But even the pool only had a few people there after lunch!
The sun was just scorching!!!
Lets hope for a cooler day tomorrow!

Australia Day Dinner 2011

We all went (not Josh but, he hates that kinda thing)
to the Australia Day Dinner last night at the PCYC
I nominated Emelia's friend Miranda for an
Australia Day Award for under 21.

So Emelia and I first spent the entire day decorating!
OMG it was so hot!
In the yard here it was 45.9!!!
I was working out in the shed most of the day blowing up 100s of balloons
for the event, and it was sweltering!!
It took most of the day!
We were done by about 4.30 and then came home to get dressed for the event
starting at 6.30!!

So here we are all dolled up ready to go!

(Note the necklace on correctly this time!! I checked!! haha)

And now with Josh!! Yay!

He looks very impressed dosnt he!
But check out the family selfy!!

(open your eyes Stu!!!)

And here we are the Dinner.
This is Miranda who we nominated.
She had a brilliant year last year, but there was a few bright young kids that did some awesome things as well, I would have hated to have been the judge!
Any teenager who achieves great things in this day needs an award i think!!!

This is a photo of the young group of girls that performed during the night!
They did really well and were very entertaining!
They are having a benefit concert on Friday night for the Queensland Flood Victims
at the PCYC!!
You can see a couple of my balloons......

Gunnedah had 4 National Australia Day Award Recipients.
How wonderful for a small town.
It really opens your eyes when you go to nights like these and see how much normal people do for the community and how much difference it can make.
We saw people ranging from in their teens
to well into their 80s that contribute to the Gunnedah Region on a recognisable basis.
It makes you sit back and think, what is it that i can offer the community!

Digital Scrapping....

If your anything like me,
sometimes the scrappy juices are flowing,
but you just don't have the energy to pull all your scrap gear out....
There nothing exciting on facebook
and you have caught up on all the BLOG goss
and you still feel unenergized..

Try Digi Scrapping....
I've found that when I am just veging on the computer
I can whip one of these layouts up in 15 minutes
I've had a bit of a creative streak
and have a nice layout i can show at the end of it....

Has a really awesome Free Kit!
Its what was used to make the above Banner

And also what i used to create this superfast layout...

Im not a professional at Digi Scrapping by any stretch of the imagination
but i just love how it has all these brilliant embellies and things
some awesome papers
and all so cheap!!
Well, this one is FREE, but others can cost from $2.

You've seen the awesome little kit that Lollipop Press is giving away during the blog hop,
its just so adorable!!

Last night i was scrapping away and didn't have the right embellie.
I am 80Kms away from the nearest scrap shop,
so I went online and bought a whole digi kit with paper, embellies, lettering, the lot!!!
250 pieces for $10.
And better still, that $10 is going to help fellow scrapper Zoe Pearn who lost everything in the Queensland Floods... For details on how your $10 can help, see here

So I can print out the perfect embellie, cut it out and paste it one and i have the prefect thing to finish of the page!!! Perfect!
So give it ago, if you create something you really like, email it to me and i might be able to use it in a future edition of the Gingersctreetscraps EZine...

(This isnt a promotion for any thing in particular,
just a sharing of experience that might come in handy for fellow scrappers)

The Colour Room Palette # 42

Here is the palette for this weeks colour Room
and here is my layout
