Back in the Saddle again......

Its been a while since this big boy has seen any kind of girth around his fat tummy!

Since September last year as a matter of fact!
But this week, he has had the uncomfortable pressure of a saddle on his back and a tight girth on his tummy!!!

Here they are getting ready for a ride today!

Emelia rode him with the all purpose saddle during the week

and she took him up Wandabah where she always rides him,

but there is a bit of work going on and trucks

and dogs barking

and lots of distractions!

He didnt like it at all! And put his head  down and seriously gave it to Emelia!

As she said, she is so glad she learnt to ride on Solo

there is nothing he can give her that will throw her off!!

She just rode him out as he bucked out his dislike of being around so many unusualiness

But he is such a softee,

wanting to cuddle the whole time she is trying to get him saddled

And here they are ready to go!

He tried to give it to her again today!!

This is a good photo too, it shows both her modes of transport!

Emelia is home........

Well cyclone Emelia flew home on Friday!!!

The house is no longer quiet

and definitely no longer tidy!!!!

And guess what!
I dont even care! I dont care that much that today is Monday and im not even going to clean!!!

On Saturday we went down to see Solo.

Of course, Solo being Solo was only interested in the food we had for him

and Emelia was concerned that he didn't even

"Recognize her exsistance!"

And that he is so very fat!

So yesterday we marched down there armed for battle

with his Halter!!!

He didnt want to be caught!

Emelia chased him for a while  getting him moving!
He is too fat to get out of his own road!

And when she got sick of that, it was up to Mum to catch him!

I wont play his games you see and he knows that.

So i found some left overs of his favorite food!!!

So without any saddle or bridal as usual

she got on him to teach him some respect!!

It didn't take long!

He totally does not like submitting this horse,

but instantly she had him doing exactly what she wanted and there were no questions about who the boss was!!!

So then we cleaned him up a bit

took all the burs out of his hair

and gave him a good brush and they love each other again now...

Then it was time to see just how quiet he is....

Riding him just with leg aids.

Laying on his back

Sitting backwards...

Now, lets see if he will let me stand on him!!!

YEP!!

Didn't bother him at all!

But please, dont ask me to go into Cimmi's stable.....

After all these months, Solo wont go into the stables to be fed. He has to be fed outside them!!

So all is right with the world again for the next week or so, until she flys back to school.

Although, she is very bored, there is no excitement! 

No Parties

No instant entertainment!!!

Off Campus life is no fun! :(

Anyway, who said visiting your family was going to be fun!!! lol

Poor Solo

Its been a very long 12 weeks without Emelia...

He is so lonely!

I get up there once a week to see him, and give him some love.....

He met me at the fence and i gave him some bread

and then i had to go give him some hay otherwise he throws a tanty!!!

I pulled all the burrs out of his main and forelock while he was eating and checked him over for injuries.

He didn't want to play so i thought i would head home...

So he followed me....

Sneaking....

Sneaking!!!!....

Gotcha!!!!!...

He likes to get our piggy tales in his mouth and lead us around by the hair!
He thinks he is very clever!!!!

See how dark he is getting, the winter coat is coming on now.

Happy Birthday to my Babies

Today is my babies birthdays......

Solo will be 8 this year... I think he is 8, maybe 9??

Nice mother i am hey!!!

And our Angel Baby Cimmi would have been 33....

and my very first baby Thor...

Where ever you are boy...

He would be 32 today....

He was such a handsome boy my Thor!!!

I miss you everyday!

Solo,

so shiny and adorable!!!

In his nice new bright blue rug....its tucked under his old green one for protection.

Today's photo story, is also about Solo....

But look at his lovely new rug now.

This is what i was greeted with at the paddock yesterday

after some rain....

Hang on.... its gets worse!!

And you know how he wasn't wanting any cuddles...

Guess what??
he has now decided he wants cuddles....

But i told him, no cuddles until he cleans himself up a little bit!!
he his like a pig this horse,

he loves his mud puddles!!!

Emelia was riding him once before down the river,

and he just dropped down to roll in the mud saddle and all!!!

He is so naughty!!
but so adorable!!

Its good to see he is getting back to his normal mischief-making self again!!

Some Fun Stuff

We are discovering all these little talents of our new clever horse!!
Yesterday when emelia was hosing him down, he took a drink from the hose... so cute....

Today he went for the sprinkler and i caught it on video!! He is so clever our Solo...

Here is Emelia doing a workout in the paddock out the back. For those of you that dont know Gunnedah, the rooves represend the culdesac that we live in. The paddock has been subdivided for a new subdivision that will start soon... very sad to loose our arena!!
Stu got out with the shipper snipper yesterday and cut a track and a ring for her.

Here is a layout i have up on.. It was going to be this months 123 challenge... didnt happen!!!

Emelia took him riding today and he had a panick attack. We knew this was part of the deal, so it came to no surprise. He isnt really used to being in town and all the noises. He was scared of a motorbike, the guy on the harley was nice enough to stop and turn the bike off until Solo stopped raring up. But after a pat and some reassurance, he was fine. It will take a little while for him to sdjust, but im sure he will do really well with Emelia.

Here he is after a wash this morning... all shiny!!!

And with Emelia...
Look at his face, isnt he gorgeous. He is the sweetest boy. He follows me everywhere. When i am in the paddock, he is at my shoulder the whole time, looking for a cuddle. I think he really does like to be loved. He loves being pet and cuddled.
